Ruth Wolf

February 1st, 2020

Dear FCPO Family,
It is with mixed emotions that I pass on to you that this morning at 3:30 am Eastern time Ruth Wolf, wife of former FCPO-USA Executive Director Grant Wolf, went home to be with the Lord. Please keep Grant and his children and grandchildren in your prayers. Below is Grant's email.

"After nearly six months of searching for the source of Ruth's excruciating pain it finally was found on Monday, January 13 to be an aggressive form of cancer, which probably originated from the colon cancer she had in 1999. It was found in her bones as was as a mass in her lower intestine. While the oncologist said one might try to fight it with surgery and other means, both he and we felt that at her age and with Parkinson's, the better path was to choose Hospice and try to keep her comfortable for whatever time she had left to live.

"Today, February 1 at 3:30 p.m. EST that time ran out. At eighty-seven years and seven months, Ruth Marilyn (Myers) Wolf is now "absent from the body and present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8). In reading John 14:2-3 the other evening I was struck by Jesus' statement that "I am going to prepare a place for you. When everything is ready, I will come and get you..." For the first time I read it in the singular instead of plural. To me Jesus was saying, "Ruth, I am going to prepare a place for YOU, and when everything is ready, I will come and get YOU." Today He finished preparing HER place, and came to get her without delay. So she's already in her new home, delighting herself in the presence of the Savior she adored and worshiped.

"Though plans still are being finalized, Heritage Funeral Home will be in charge, the viewing and service will be at Grace Baptist Church, and burial will be at National Cemetery.

"Thank you so much for your prayers and concern these past several months. Please continue to pray for me and my family as we go through this difficult time. Ruth and I met 70 years ago this past December, and were married more than 65 1/2 years. Though that may seem like a long time to many, to me it is "a vapor that appeared for a little while and now has vanished away" (James 4:14). Though I miss her with an aching heart, I know I shall be with her again in eternity.

"But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says,
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.

"2 When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.

"3 For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

"4 Others were given in exchange for you. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me.
You are honored, and I love you.

Isaiah 43:1-4"
