Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we celebrate the joy and victory of Easter, we are reminded that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is not only an event to be remembered—but a life to be lived. In a profession where we stand daily in harm’s way, Easter speaks powerfully to our calling: because Christ lives, we do not stand exposed, unprotected, or alone.
In The Normal Christian Life, Watchman Nee* uses an illustration that has helped generations of believers understand a vital spiritual truth: our standing before God is not based on our own strength, righteousness, or vigilance—but on Christ Himself as our covering. Just as clothing covers a person completely and presents them as clothed rather than exposed, so Christ is meant to be our full and sufficient covering before God. We are not called to improve ourselves so that God will accept us; we are called to put on Christ and stand in Him.
This truth is especially meaningful for those of us who wear uniforms, armor, and badges. In our daily duties, we understand the importance of cover—of protection that stands between us and danger. Easter reminds us that spiritually, Christ is our ultimate cover. His blood covers our sin. His resurrection power covers our weakness. His life covers our calling.
When God looks at us, He does not measure us by our past failures or present struggles. He sees us covered by the risen Christ—alive in Him, hidden in Him, and empowered by Him. This frees us from striving and fear and allows us to serve with courage, humility, and peace.
As Christian peace officers, we are often watchmen on the wall—standing in the gap between order and chaos, justice and harm. Easter assures us that we do not stand there exposed. We stand clothed with Christ, upheld by His life, and strengthened by His resurrection.
May this Easter renew your confidence—not in yourself, but in the living Christ who goes before you, stands with you, and covers you completely.
He is risen—and because He lives, we stand secure.
In Christ and in service,
